RORSTRAND SWEDEN CERAMIC POTTERY ABSTRACT ROUND RUBUS DISH BOWL, MODEL #1 – GUNNAR NYLUND, MIDCENTURY SCANDINAVIAN STONEWARE ART BOWL Offering for consideration a wonderful Rorstrand abstract round semi-glazed ceramic/ stoneware dish or bowl, designed by Gunnar Nylund. This beautiful mottled bowl in a subtle combination of light brown/ moss/ greenish/ cream colors has a tactile surface and is adorned with intriguing and mysterious pattern resembling a sun in the center with broken down rays/ protuberances going towards the edges and covering the interior walls, evenly distributed around 360 degrees. . The subtlety of color treatments and techniques clearly indicates that this is a masterpiece created by a very talented and experienced artist. This bow is compact in size, but quite hefty in weight. It has very thick walls and base. A lot of ceramic material was used in its creation. This is an unusual and unique bowl, and is rare. Gunnar Nylund hardly needs any introduction, as along with Carl Harry Stalhane, he is an iconic Swedish ceramic designer with great influence and invaluable contributions to the Swedish ceramic art. It is impossible to imagine Swedish ceramic art without his body of work. This collector’s bow will appeal equally to the fans of Scandinavian and Swedish art and design, as well as anyone who appreciates unusual, beautiful and quality items for their home. Measurements: Diameter: About 5 3/8” (13.5 cm) Height: About 1 1/8” (3 cm); Material: Ceramic / Pottery/ Stoneware Surface: Semi-glazed, tactile surface with mottled streak pattern coloring Making timelines: This is a mid-century bowl. Weight: About 21.0 oz. (595 grams, or 1 lb and 5 oz.).
