You are bidding on one 1-3/8″ wide iron or blade or cutter for a Stanley Number 60-1/2 wood block plane as pictured.The iron is marked with the STANLEY logo and “MADE IN ENGLAND” below that. It is also stamped “25” by a prior owner, see below for the explanation. Width of the iron at the sharp end is very close to 1-3/8″, and overall length of the iron is about 4-5/16″. (Width is NOT 1-5/8″).The center slot is about 7/16″ wide, and it has the 10 notches on the back side. The most recent Stanley 60-1/2 planes used a wider lateral lever opening or slot, and 3 oval holes instead of the 10 notches. This fits the earlier planes, including US made Stanley Number 60-1/2 planes. The “25” marking refers to the bevel angle when the prior owner sharpened it. It actually measures very close to 25 degrees. Condition of the iron is excellent, other than the 25 stamping, with barely any patina and only a few scratches. It has seen some flattening, and it will want a light sharpening. SHIPPING: Under 1 pound, shipped in a padded envelope, shipped US Postal Service Ground Advantage, insurance is included. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it’s not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20″ long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30″ long, because those longer packages won’t fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item.
