Object: This auction is for a lot of 2 beautiful vintage Heath Ceramics cup-saucers (no cups) in the hard-to-find Beachstone (?) glaze. Heath Beachstone pieces are a deep dark brown semi-gloss on the outside and a bone white glossy glaze inside accented with finely speckled (sprayed?) brown rims. Photos cannot do justice to this set. The coupe styling and rich colors are classic Edith Heath. Each saucer has an indented center to fit the base of a cup. Cups are not included in this auction. Artist/Studio: Edith Heath (1911-2005) founded Heath Ceramics in 1948 in Sausalito, California. They are most popular for their mid-century tableware and distinctively substantial stoneware pottery shapes, molds, and rich glazes. Source: Online research Origin: Sausalito, California, USA Year: Unknown, c1950s vintage Signed: These saucers are unmarked but are part of a large Heath collection we have listed in our current auctions. Incised on the bottom of other pieces in this collection is “Heath, Made in USA.” Pattern: Beachstone glaze, coupe shape Color: Dark brown and bone white with speckled brown rims Material: Stoneware ceramic pottery Surface: Smooth, semi-gloss inside and out; speckled rim treatment; unglazed foot rims Technique: Molded; factory produced Features: Distinctive Edith Heath coupe styling; indented saucer center to fit a cup base; speckled (sprayed?) rims Condition: Very good condition with no chips, cracks, utensil marks or other condition issues to note. Any white marks in the photos are camera glare and not surface wear. Any irregularities in glaze, shape or color, any fleabites, etc. would be from the manufacturing process and not damage of any kind.
