For example, in an amplifier with a total power of 1500w PEP in AM mode, the carrier (or dead key, unmodulated) should be set at 375w. With 100% modulation, you can achieve the full 1500w PEP output. Keep in mind that in AM mode, the voltage produced by the transistors at full modulation will be double compared to CW mode, so avoid overdriving the amplifier. – Measurements for AM and SSB modes should be in PEP (Peak Envelope Power), and it’s recommended to use a wattmeter with Average and PEP readings for accurate measurement.
