7 1/4″ wide by 11″ tall hand written & signed letter AND 2 (TWO!) original 3 1/2″ wide by 5″ long deckle edged glossy snapshot photos concerning sculptor Leonard Volk, creator of a famous Abraham Lincoln statue-The letter is undated but the photos have a June 1957 date stamp- The letter is written to officials at the Abraham Lincoln book shop in Chicago and was written by “(Mrs.) H.S. Stockwell 359 West Main Street Hillsboro, Ohio”-Apparently Mrs. Stockwell was trying to sell one of the busts to the book store- Great content like: “I believe this is the work of Volk about 1860 as the smooth shaven face corresponds to the likeness on a campaign disc that I have that was used in the 1860 campaign… As I told you, the bust came into our possession at the death of an elderly lady whose major interest in life was Mr. Lincoln. She said when she purchased the bust that it had cost a pretty penny. It was placed in attics and forgotten until recently.”- The pair of photos feature a real photo image of the Lincoln bust statue from front and back -Set is in lightly used condition -(See images below for clarification)- How many of these throwaway items survived?
